I am a third year undergraduate student at the University of Wisconsin, River Falls studying English Literature and Technical Writing. I am also in my second year of French and am proficient at reading the language. I can provide assistance to the beginnining French student. In high school I took Advanced Placement courses in American History, Biology, and Literature. A Little Bit About Me...

I have many and varied experiences in teaching music in the public schools and privately for over 30 years. I have my bachelors degree in music education-k-12 and I have almost finished my Master's degree in Music Education. My teaching experience includes classroom, vocal-choral, piano and band. During my years teaching in the public school system, I volunteered often for after-school activities organized in order to tutor the students in math, science, english, etc. I have also been a substitute teacher and have experience teaching several subjects which also included special education and emotional behavioral disabled children. Throughout my coursework at Eau Claire, I have adopted a constructivist approach to teaching. That is, I believe that every child is unique and learns differently. It is the instructors job to find out how each child learns the material, whether it be visually with demonstrations or integrating the material to an area of interest (like a favorite sport), and then cater to their particular need. As a result, I am easy to approach, likeable, and try to be a supportive as opposed to disciplinary mentor. I am also a huge fan of answering the 'Why do I need to know this?' question, and do my best to connect the problem or subject to something applicable to the child.
