I hold a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature with a minor in journalism from Oswego State University. While in school I studied psychology and child development as well as great works of literature. I have always had a knack for grammar and spelling and I enjoy proofreading documents and helping others to develop their ideas. I am familiar with many books in literary canon and I am interested in reading other books that teachers are including in their curriculum. Although I have no formal teaching experience, I do have been developing my teaching style for many years while I worked with the developmentally disabled. I learned to identify a teachable moment, which is a time at which the student would be most receptive to learning. Beginning in high school I found myself driven to help children in need. Through my participation in Mercy Action, I raised money for mentally delayed children, and set up numerous barbeques for them. Later, I began tutoring a young brazilian boy in the 5th grade. He needed help with all of his studies, especially math and english. As a political science major, I have gained experienced in essay writing, grammatical skills and research methods.
