I started in the Master of Education in the Teaching Arts at Mississippi College this past January and recieved by Class A Teacher's License in June of this year. I am certified to teach grades 4-8 in all four of the major subjects: math, science, social studies and language. I feel my calling is working with children. My experience volunteering as a youth basketball and baseball coach has showed me that a child’s ability to learn is unlimited. I also believe that children can reach their full potential when placed in the right surrounding and with the right motivation. As an inner city youth coach, I strive to make a difference in all of my kids’ lives as players and as students.

My teaching style totally depends on my student. Every one has a different learning style, and I try to be adaptable. I believe you must create a relaxed and and supportive atmosphere for the learner. Projecting a sense of confidence in the student goes a long way towards helping him/her achieve his/her educational goal. Lots of time the student has the skills but is not sure enough of himself/herself to proceed. I am just the prompter. I really enjoy sharing in the learning process and especially relish the moment when the student discovers his ability to learn and achieve.

I realize that, in order for a student to want to learn, the subject must be presented to them in an interesting way. I know I have the ability to make the subject relative to the child in a way that is both easy-to-understand, yet effective. I am extremely patient, enthuastic, and truly love the subject of English.
