I really like working with children from low income families. I think each child has a different interest and way of learning. I try to discover these learning styles before I begin the tutoring process. I try to allow them to be comfortable and having fun during our sessions. Most of the time I do a lot of question/conversation responses to allow them to find the answer for themselves. I like a problem based learning style, even for the youngest of children. A Little Bit About Me...

I like to challenge my students to reach their potential. I realize there is a fine line between challenging and frustrating my students. I like for my students to figure out math problems on their own as much as possible. My teaching style is to model new material, do guided practice, and independent practice. Hopefully by the time they finish this process they have mastered the particular lesson.
I decided at the age of 38 to attend college and earn my BA of Education degree. I have worked with and coached young people most of my life on a volunteer basis.
