A Little Bit About Me...

I have studied French for about 10 years, starting with classes in high school, and enjoyed it so much that I continued my studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. My studies focused primarily on French literature, though I was particularly interested in francophone literature from Quebec and the Antilles. Following that, I went on to enroll in a unique program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the Professional French Masters Program (PFMP). The goal is of the program is to combine French with a given area of concentration, which allowed me to continue honing my language skills while studying immigration. This culminated in a 4-month internship in Montreal, where I worked with Haitian immigrants in a community center. The experience was incredibly challenging but enriching, and I hope to continue working with French in the future.

As a certified translator and an aspiring interpreter, the Spanish language is a major part of my life and I thoroughly enjoy sharing it with interested students. I received my degree in Spanish from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and have gathered a vast understanding of teaching methods as a tutor during my time there. It takes a radical approach to learning if one really wishes to speak a foreign language with fluency, and I have worked towards perfecting my methodology to achieve this for my clients.
Audio, oral, and immersion techniques are my preferred method of teaching. This includes various activities with radio programs, conversation simulation, and learning to think on your feet in Spanish.

I am a graduate of Brigham Young University with a BA in English. Psychology and child development were part of my curriculum. When our children were all in school, I started substitute teaching K-12. I especially enjoyed working with K-5. I have worked as a substitute, permanent substitute and teaching assistant for about 13 years in the Concord School District (NH) and the Provo School District (UT). A Little Bit About Me...
