Algebra can be easy! There is no reason why students should have to struggle with it. I've seen many reasons why students haven't gotten an A in it, and that's usually because they just aren't focused or can't seem to get motivated. Another problem with Algebra has been making connections with real life. It's very hard for a lot of kids to "get into" something when they can't see the use of it. Those real-world connections really need to be made. I am very active in the classroom and I believe in making learning fun and enjoyable. There are so many ways to help children learn, yet many of them are not used for one reason or another. If information must be memorized, I like to put it to song or a rap. Other methods of learning that are very useful are concept maps, discussions, and performing. Another very successful method that I've employed is having the student actually teach

I don't have a formal experience of teaching in a class, but i do have a lot of experience from teaching my fellow classmates and occasionally teaching in front of the whole class. Its actually easier for me to teach one on one since I think I can give the student all the personal attention they need and will be able to devote more time inorder to make them understand the subject and master it. I could also give them easier ways to help them capture and master the subject.

Herb B. - Newport, KY 41076 (39.6 mi) - Algebra I Tutor - $22.50/hr.
I have tutored highschool algebra and chemistry for family and friends for the last 25 years. I have also worked for a certified tutoring service where I helped students with math and science at their place of residence. I teach the subject matter to the student by ensuring that they are engaged in the problem solving process. This is accomplished by working closely with them and continuously questioning them to assist them in working through the problem solving process. The amount of assistance is dependent on the student's knowledge and varies according to their individual needs. I work with the student by engaging them in the problem solving process.

Hello,
I graduated for UC - College of Engineering in 2003 and have taken required coursework in math and science. In the past, I have tutored math to family, friends, co-workers and at a learning center as part-time employment. I can effectively tutor Algebra I & II, geometry, trigonometry and lower math within the math sector. Furthermore, I have taken required coursework in chemistry, physics and other sciences at the college level and could tutor many of these subjects as well with limited "refreshing" time needed.
I am confident I can be of value to you in certain subject areas of math and science.
My rates are very reasonable and I will be happy to work around your schedule.
Please call (859)441-7638
Thank you.
Tony

I really enjoyed this class, as well as Algebra II. I'm currently a student at PLD Highschool and have taken all the classes listed that I'm tutoring for. Math is something I love to do on my free time and I know the basics, and beyond in some areas. Graphs of functions and applications for example. Exponential and logarithmic functions and conic sections are also a forte.

I am in the process of working on my teaching degree to become a math or English teacher. I love teaching math! I have learned many teaching styles. Each student learns differently, so there is a technique to apply to very learning style to accommodate individual needs. I am a junior at EKU working toward my Bachelor of Science. Education major with concentrations in Math and English. I have tutored my mom in basic college math as well as statistics, and her grades have definitely improved. I have learned to accommodate individual learning needs and I find the results very rewarding!
