A Little Bit About Me...

I am a senior at the University of South Carolina Honors College. In May 2013, I will graduate with degree in Biology, a minor in English, and a cognate in Chemistry. My current GPA is 3.928. I was a pre-med student until recently, and I was my high school Valedictorian. I have tutored children in the past from ages 7 to 13, but I am comfortable tutoring all ages. I am also have a strong knowledge of the German language.
I like to provide an explanation, and have the student complete a similar exercise themself, with help from me only as needed.

A Little Bit About Me...

I work with the student by engaging them in the problem solving process.
I have tutored highschool algebra and chemistry for family and friends for the last 25 years. I have also worked for a certified tutoring service where I helped students with math and science at their place of residence. I teach the subject matter to the student by ensuring that they are engaged in the problem solving process. This is accomplished by working closely with them and continuously questioning them to assist them in working through the problem solving process. The amount of assistance is dependent on the student's knowledge and varies according to their individual needs.

Since my retirement I have tutored math to students in the Black Achievers Program thru the Lexington YMCA. I truly love teaching math and have always received very high evaluations. I believe the way I explain mathematical concepts makes it easy for students at all levels to comprehend. I have three children and eight grandchildren and over the years have enjoyed working with them on math problems and math games. I started my college career pursuing architecture because I enjoy drawing and design. Realizing buildings weren't my passion and agriculture was where I wanted to go, I changed to a triple major in ag systems technology, ag business, and economics. Realizing I have always been good in math and enjoyed being challenged, I changed my major again to agricultural engineering where I acquired a degree in December of 2008. I have tutored an individual in physics and algebra and feel math and science would be the best fit for myself.
