I don't have a formal experience of teaching in a class, but i do have a lot of experience from teaching my fellow classmates and occasionally teaching in front of the whole class. Its actually easier for me to teach one on one since I think I can give the student all the personal attention they need and will be able to devote more time inorder to make them understand the subject and master it. I could also give them easier ways to help them capture and master the subject.

My comments on tutoring Algebra II : I received my minor in Mathematics from the University of Arizona in 2011.

I have taught two sections of an introductory biology laboratory (Bio181) at the University of Arizona in 2011. Each section is three hours long and I prepare the lectures and weekly quizzes. I also grade lab reports, computer assignments, lab projects and hold office hours for two hours each week. In addition, I attend a three-hour organizational weekly meeting with other instructors and the course director (Bruce Patterson). I have also been a teaching assistant for Cell Biology (MCB410). I attended all lectures, held office hours each week, graded quizzes and exams. I received my Bachelors Degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology in 2011 with a minors in Mathematics and Chemistry. The following year I received my Masters Degree from the University of Arizona in Molecular and Cellular Biology. A Little Bit About Me...

I have formal classroom teaching experience as well as experience as a one-on-one tutor. I've served as an adjunct instructor in physics University of Cincinnati for 5 years teaching undergraduate physics. This involves teaching basic math skills such as vector addition as well as physics concepts. I've also done one-on-one tutoring for high school calculus.
Strong emphasis on problem solving as a route to learning in either math or physics, since that's where rubber meets road. I stress that students understand fundamental terms and definitions, since trouble in problem solving and school exams is often rooted in confusion about basic terminology and rules involved in vector math, momentum, etc. Can tutor either one on one or in small groups. The plus side of small groups is that students still get lots of individual attention, but can also tackle group problem solving activ ... read more

I like to teach using different strategies and methods, because I know all the students in the classroom are not going to learn the same way. I feel it is best to fully understand my content and standards. Then create lessons to teach the students in a way they will learn the material best for them. I teach using various methods: hands-on, kinesthetic, real life learning, music, incorporating other contents and likes, while still creating a routine for structure. My style changes based on my students needs.

My teaching style focuses on collaboration with the student, ensuring that knowledge is recieved organically, and not forcibly. Having been a student myself, I understand the importance of appealing to a child's sensibilities and multiple intelligences; not every child learns in the same way. As such, I am committed to incorporating a variety of methods (such as visual, auditory and written) to reinforce the concepts as simply as possible. I subscribe to the idea that, in order for children to reach their potential, they must be challenged to strive.
I am a graduate of Walnut Hills High School, finishing in the top 3 percent in my class, and was a recipient of the Yale University Award for Outstanding Intellect and Character. I have working with people of all ages since my teen years to help them excel in areas they once struggled. I currently do some subbing in local districts and help out area students in various content areas. I taught school for 12 years at the middle level, mostly in Math. I developed and implemented an AT-Risk program in the Milwaukee area. Then became a stay at home mom. I currently work at an area Insurance Company and help students when I can.
I try a variety of approaches to see what works with each student. If you have 25 students in a class, you can have 25 different learning styles. I believe a lot in hands-on and learning from others. Questions are always welcome. I continually do course work to keep up on new approaches. Being teachable is key. I have seen students I work with have success. These students range from the gifted to the so-called difficult child. ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching philosophy incorporates 3 concepts. My teaching is student centered, success focused and goal oriented. This means that instruction is given taking into account the student's experiences. Success focused means that the level of material is appropriate to the student creating pooportunities for the student to be successful and then allowing the teacher to build on those successes. Goal oriented means that each activity and lesson has specific learning outcomes.

A Little Bit About Me...

I approach teaching and tutoring as an exercise in problem solving. It requires assessment of the student's background, previously mastered skills, learning style, and engagement with the content. I believe that anyone can be taught anything; the key is developing an engaged, encouraged student with the fundamental knowledge to grasp the concepts at hand. Sometimes this requires remediation of specific skills. Other times, a student needs to understand the big picture so concepts can take root. Some students may require a visual demonstration while others master concepts best by diving head first into the content and asking questions when they arrive at a sticking point. I believe my flexibility and breadth of experiences and interests help me to connect to each student.

I worked as a Graduate Assistant when I completed my Ph.D. I have helped my daughters with their studies in school after that. My older daughter is now in college. I work full-time in the IT industry and would like to tutor part-time in the evenings or on week-ends in Math and Physics. It is a way for me to keep in touch with academics while helping students.
I was lucky to have had excellent teachers in school. Whenever I see students struggle, I want to show them a way by which they can understand the concept. I do feel with some effort and reiteration, students can understand and grow in confidence. The reason most of them find a subject difficult is because they don't understand it. Once they start understanding, they will experience a joy when they get a problem right. With time, this will translate into a love for the subject.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am a Montessori teacher in the secondary setting. My teaching style allows students to learn at their own pace. Students do a lot of hands on activities and group with others in their class to aid in their learning. Students learn through the inquiry process and discovering the material on their own, which I feel is the best way for a student to retain the information.
