I have taught as an English Instructor at East Mississippi Community College and Mary Holmes College. I taught several courses. Developmental I and II were very basic grammar and writing courses. Composition I and II were courses that introduced students to writing essays and the research paper. In addition, I have also taught English as A Second Language at Mississippi State University and Greater Columbus Learning Center. I taught grammar, reading, phonics, vocabulary, and conversational English. I also worked at RTP for a year as a GED tutor. I tutored math, social studies, and language arts. I also worked with students who were studying for the ACT. As a soon to be graduate of the Counseling program, I hold education to the highest level. I have also earned a bachelors degree in psychology, which has given me an important background in my study of counseling. I have had a lot of general education classes which give me a broad area of study. I have never been a teacher, but I do have a younger sibling. My teaching style varies based on the age of the student. I like to be a little more animated with my k-6 graders. On the other hand, with my 7-12 graders I focus more so on making a connection with the material--showing them how it relates to them.
