When tutoring a student, I like to start with giving the student a few problems to see where their competency level lies. From there, I proceed like a teacher in a classroom would. I explain a problem while I am solving it step by step on a piece of paper. This allows the student to learn two separate ways-visually and orally. Once an idea is grasped, I like to give the student a couple of similar problems to solve on their own. My teaching style is different for each student. I have never considered myself a student that things come easy to. I always had to find a way to relate to the material, and when I tutor that is exactly what I try to achieve with each student. My desire to teach and tutor students in mathematics comes from my love of the subject. I have always enjoyed math and truly enjoy passing on my knowledge of math.
