A Little Bit About Me...

I am a college student planning on minoring in mathematics and majoring in biophysics. After I graduate with a bachelor's degree, I plan on going to medical school, thus I have a wide array of experience with all the natural sciences (due to having to take all the pre-med courses). Throughout high school I was a teaching assistant at Iolani during the summer for English Language Learners. While attending Harvard University, I volunteered in a after school program in Boston's Chinatown community teaching second and third graders from low income families. There I helped them with homework and developed projects with fellow counselors to enrich their learning. When I was a freshman in college, I knew that my future was in my hands. I befriended and contacted my chemistry professor and zoology advisor. I worked in both of their labs, and I was only a freshman! By studying in their research groups, I gained the experience necessary to intern at Sea Life Park Hawaii. In fact, I was published in 2007 after working for Dr. Charlie Cox in the Chemistry Department. Recognizing the need for more hands-on research experience, I found another opportunity with another professor in cellular biology. In addition to conducting this research, I co-wrote the research proposal for the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program. This was an honor, for we were awarded funding for the project!

I am a graduate from the University of Denver with a degree in Biology and French, as well as a minor in Chemistry. My undergraduate education comprised of upper level courses in Biology, Chemistry, French as well as Math and Physics. I recently left Denver, CO where I was a Lab Researcher at National Jewish Health, reviewing anti-inflammatory treatment in cystic fibrosis.
