Starting in high school, I began to tutor grade school and middle school students through an after-school honors program. I have worked with (primarily middle school) students in several volunteer programs through church youth ministries. I had recently held a position as Music Director for Middle School Ministry at Willow Creek Community Church in Dupage, IL for 13 months. While earning my BAS in the Chicago area, I tutored college students in several subjects, mostly Math and Computer Skills for the entirety of the Bachelors program, 26 months. A Little Bit About Me...

I'm a very laid back casual sort of fellow that likes to make someone think about how to solve problems efficiently. I won't just blurt out an answer to a question hoping they pick up, hands on working through a problem is the best way I've found to solve computer problems. Teaching the student "where" to look to find answers is big help too, there is reference material out on the web for ANY business related task you can think of.
I have 20+ years of real world business IT experience. Most of that was programming on IBM iSeries/AS400 mini computers in RPG or COBOL. The last 6 or 7 years has been devoted to learning HTML & PHP in my spare time. The languages aren't important, what is key is learning to break complex tasks down into smaller chunks and think logically about how to link all these smaller tasks into a program to accomplish the overall goal.

Since a child, I have always been curious of the world around me. My interests culminated with the completion of two degrees in the natural sciences. I consider myself a true inter-disciplinarian, supplementing both my degrees with courses in applied sciences, economics and the arts, to improve my understanding of the connections between science and the world.
