After receiving my masters in 2005, I went on to work in public accounting for 5 years where I gained experience as an auditor working for a Big 4 CPA firm. Part of my job responsibilities were to develop and coach new staff while on the job. During that time is when I discovered that I loved to teach, and I have been tutoring privately ever since. I have always loved children. Children are precious and all have very unique learning techniques. When I was a senior at Maryville High School, I taught Spanish to first graders. My partner and I were in charge of making lesson plans and fulfilling these plans for each class. I really enjoyed seeing the children get excited about learning.

I believe learning is about confidence. I have seen numerous students doing poorly in courses because they were convinced that they were not capable of learning the subject matter. Small successes help to build confidence in order to move on to the subsequent challenges. Through experience and research, I have developed a tutoring style that has helped countless students achieve unmeasured success. My students usually respond very well to my standard explanation of the procedure for solving algebra equations, as well as other math concepts, such as logarithms, trigonometry, and derivatives. I have 20+ years of real world business IT experience. Most of that was programming on IBM iSeries/AS400 mini computers in RPG or COBOL. The last 6 or 7 years has been devoted to learning HTML & PHP in my spare time. The languages aren't important, what is key is learning to break complex tasks down into smaller chunks and think logically about how to link all these smaller tasks into a program to accomplish the overall goal.
I'm a very laid back casual sort of fellow that likes to make someone think about how to solve problems efficiently. I won't just blurt out an answer to a question hoping they pick up, hands on working through a problem is the best way I've found to solve computer problems.
