I aim to work with people, by basically a read of the person and then testing them if I need more information. This then gives me the opportunity to relate to them on the many levels an effective teacher has to relate to make the child successful. The idea is to figure out what works on a given student and take their strengths and develop them. - Graduated from Boise State University with a Games, Interactive Mobile, and Media degree (Bachelors) I prefer to teach by doing, as I believe that performing tasks and becoming familiar with the process is more beneficial than wrote memorization or written assignments/quizzes. I like to get to know my student, where they are in their studies, and what they feel they need to work on versus what they already know. I have plenty of experience working on personal, university, and job related projects. When teaching mathematics, I believe that over half of my job is social skills. Calming my students down, easing their frustration, and making them feel comfortable is over half the battle. It isn't that mathematics is too hard for most people, it is just too frustrating for most people. So my job is to set my client at ease and to create a learning environment. Initially, I like to find out the basics. I want to know their underlying assumptions in any part of academia, whether it's math or science. I have come to find that the very simplest of assumptions can mislead students. I like to start each problem with a new set of assumptions, or a "given", "find", and "solution" step-by-step process. This allows the student to see the problem as a whole and if there are problems, be able to identify where they are beginning whether it's in the initial assumption or in the solution step. I have spent the last five years attaining my BS in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Idaho.
