Experienced, unconventional Latin and English teacher

I have over 20 years of experience working as a university instructor and private teacher for students ages 11-50. Most of my experience has been in English as a Second Language programs for community colleges and research universities, including M.I.T. and Tufts University. For the past several years I have been assisting middle and high school students with Latin (I have studied over 11 years of that language) and have also tutored beginning German and English writing.

I like working with children of all ages. I believe that children of all ages and cultural backgrounds can learn if given a proper chance. I even managed to teach children in South Korea, when I didn't speak Korean at all and my students had limited English skills. I taught them through games and use of our workbooks and student books. I believe in making learning a fun experience with lots of games and an easy going manner. If the kid is bored or unhappy, it is going to make it much harder for the child to learn. As the founder and president of UNCA French club 2008 until 2010 I enjoy helping others with the French language. I am also a member of Pi Delta Phi, the National French Honor society's chapter at the University of North Carolina at Asheville. I now hold a bachelor degree from UNCA with a major in French language. This language experience makes me a capable instructor of English as well as French.
