My comments on tutoring Chinese : I was not only trained in second language development and bilingual education in school but also practiced my skills in the real classroom. After coming to U.S., I taught Mandarin Chinese to K-12 students at various levels. I taught Chinese for Elementary school students in Pennsylvania. My latest teaching experience was Mandarin teacher in a Chicago high school. In this high school, I initiated a 4-year Chinese program and taught students from Grade 9-11. In my class, students were not only learning the 4 language skills – listening, speaking, reading and writing, but also immersed in Chinese culture. In the last year of the program, some students were sent to China for their senior trip. I also had experience working with college and graduate school students. I had been Teaching Assistant for Chinese Traditional Culture Class in graduate school. This was an advanced graduate-level course offered to American students who were learning Chinese in China. Through the experience as both a foreign language student and an assistant teacher, I acquaint myself with the difficulties and needs of the students while they are learning a foreign language.

My education background focused on education issues in different countries and cultures as well as second language learning and teaching. I earned Ph.D. in International and Comparative Education at the Pennsylvania State University. I got my Master degree in International and Comparative Education and my Bachelor degree as a language teacher in English Education (Teaching English as a Second Language). Loving,caring Chinese tutorlooking for a part time job

I had been an English teacher for kids in china over two years before I came to the US and I have been tutoring for a year last year in San Francisco for one 4year old and one 2- year-old. More About This Tutor...

I believe the best way to improve Mandarin is through speaking it. Therefore, I will stress on the oral portion more. I think reading and discussing about articles on different subjects is a good way to help students feel comfortable about speaking Chinese. I think geology is a subject that needs to be verbalized and visualized. Therefore, I will rely on graphics and dialogues with my students to help them familiarize themselves with geologic concepts.
I was born in Taiwan and grew up in Shanghai. I tutored English in Shanghai and tutored Mandarin at Wheaton College. I'm confident in not just teaching Mandarin but relating the language to American culture and Chinese culture. I am a third year student majoring in Geology at Wheaton College. I spent one year as a teaching assistant in the geology department at Wheaton.
