I love working with all children, but I particularly enjoy middle school aged students. This is a time in their life where they are easy influenced, and I believe I can be a positive influence in this very important time in their life. I am patient, and believe every child has the right to have academic success. As a teacher, I believe it is my responsibility to help each student reach their maximum potential.
I have a diverse educational background, which includes studies in the area of social work, psychology, sociology, and education. I graduated in 2003 from the University of Arkansas with a B.A. in Social Work with minors in both psychology and sociology. I love working with children. I have 3 of my own and I am currently studying for a Master of Science in Higher Education so that I can teach. I would love to teach college courses, but my main focus is teaching elementary students. I think it would be easier for me to tutor younger kids versus high shcool children. Even though that's where my experience is at, I just love working with smaller kids. I've volunteered at preschools and kindergarten classes and I absolutely love to work with them.
I worked as a tutor coordinator for the YMCA tutoring children from the ages of 12-16. I helped them in basic studies to ensure that they had a grade of a C or better. My goal is to open up an after school program so that I can help students who may need tutoring after school get the grades that they need to pass on to the next level.
