Making Learning as fun as possible.

I prefer to have a fun learning environment. I think you learn from hearing, seeing, and doing.
I’ve had many years of practice in the tutoring field dealing with the fact that my brother has a learning disability. He likes to have fun and thinks that leaning is boring, so I try to make learning as fun as possible. Then I have my student on student tutoring when the students tutor each other. I think its better that way because most students don't really pay attention to their teachers but they take it better when it comes from another student. Sometimes its better because something you understand they may not understand and when you explain it to them then may be they will understand it a little better. Basically what im saying is that some kids learn better from other kids.

A Little Bit About Me...

In high school, I was frequently the one that people came to for help. It was then that I realized I was extremely good at teaching. My senior year, I spent all day helping four different math teachers, one of which was frequently absent. In order to keep her class from falling behind, she had me make notes and go over practice problems with her classes. I spent quite a bit of my free time working on notes and worksheets, and giving step by step instructions to other children. In addition, I tutored other people who were having trouble for extra money. I also have a little brother and little sister that I spend a good bit of time going over homework and preparing for tests. I have the necessary experience to help pull your child's grades up.
My teaching style will depend on your child's needs. I have found that the easiest way is to make notes and practice problems to go over, then ... read more

I love working with children. I have 3 of my own and I am currently studying for a Master of Science in Higher Education so that I can teach. I would love to teach college courses, but my main focus is teaching elementary students. I think it would be easier for me to tutor younger kids versus high shcool children. Even though that's where my experience is at, I just love working with smaller kids. I've volunteered at preschools and kindergarten classes and I absolutely love to work with them.
I worked as a tutor coordinator for the YMCA tutoring children from the ages of 12-16. I helped them in basic studies to ensure that they had a grade of a C or better. My goal is to open up an after school program so that I can help students who may need tutoring after school get the grades that they need to pass on to the next level. Children are very creative and spontaneous, which makes each day different than the last. Through tutoring, I will be able to guide children in the right direction. You can pay people to teach, but you cannot pay them to care... that is the number one reason why I want to work with children; thats first. I think if a teacher dares to challenge a students mind it can help the student learn a lot more about themselves. Thus, by challenging their mind students can learn their strengths and weaknesses to a greater extent. Finally, I want to make a positive difference in the lives of our children.
In the last 10 years, a considerable body of knowledge and time has been placed into the developed & effective ways to teach children to read, write, art, & character. My experiences are filled with life skills. I want children to leave class with more confidence, compassion, and ent ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy helping students reach their full potential & feeling a sense of accomplishment. I received a Liberal Arts education because my parents thought as did my teachers, professors, & I that a Liberal Arts education teaches creativity, flexibility, sound, logical reasoning, & good judgment. It is these ideas which I want to impart to my students. My philosophy of education includes utilizing the student's background in order to help the student discover & create meaning so that he or she can learn & better understand the material they must learn in order to become successful. I love to read; I always carry a book with me, & I share this love with my students. Every successful person in life that I know of reads; reads well, & reads often.
