Piano is one of my top subjects! I have a BA in Music with a piano pedagogy minor.

While a student, I started teaching piano at the community music school at my college. In January 2010, I started teaching privately in Loves Park, IL. I now maintain a studio of 20-25 active students. I also am a licensed kiddykeys instructor. Kiddykeys is a preschool music appreciation and keyboard exploration course which teaches basic music skills to children ages 2 1/2-5.
I believe in wholistic music education, so I teach note reading, music theory, and ear training. I use instruction, interactive activities, games, and performance opportunities to give students a relaxed and complete understanding of playing and performing at the piano.

A Little Bit About Me...

During my high school years I would volunteer to help children through various charities and church. When I attended college I became an Early Childhood Education major and volunteered in preschool and elementary schools. During my Student Teaching in Des Plaines I was in complete control of a Kindergarten classroom and later a 2nd Grade class. After graduating I began working in a daycare where I created activities for children as young as 3 years old and activities and homework help for elementary students as old as 13.
When I am teaching I am very patient and try to organize the lesson or my assistance in steps. I'll have the child read the problem or question, ask what they know about it, see if they understand the question and proceed. I have served as an instrumental music educator under contract for three years; I have been a substitute teacher in public schools for fifteen years. I have taught all grade levels. I have learned extensive grammatical skills due to writing research papers as a graduate student. I have tutuored many students primarily on musical instruments.
