I am a firm believer that every student given an opportunity has the ability to learn. My experiences as the oldest of seven children instilled in me the desire to educate others, so I obtained my BS degree in Biology and Secondary Education. I taught 7th and 8th grade sciences for five years before staying home to be a full time mother and substitute teaching on the high school level for 3 more years. I operated a small daycare during my children's growing years before returning to work fulltime in the business world. My style tends to range based on who I am trying to teach, and I suppose is most accurately labeled as adaptive. I understand that different people learn things in different ways, and so I try to accommodate that with my teaching. For instance if I found that a student learns better visually then I would attempt to use visual cues and examples in lesson plans to make the material as easy to understand as possible. I also believe in keeping a very loose and pleasant atmosphere, and making sure that everyone feels comfortable and safe, which I believe also assists in the learning process.

After graduating with a double major in Psychology and English with an emphasis in Literature, I started my graduate work in English and a teaching position as a high school English teacher. I took education certification courses and passed the state exam for the State of Florida for middle school and high school English. I was an instructional aide for Adult Education at Martin County where I tutored in spelling, grammar, literature and prepared adults for the G.E.D.
