During my enrollment at the University of Arizona in Tucson, I tutored several students in advanced psychology courses as well as advanced English composition courses to undergraduates. I graduated from the University of Arizona with honors--a member of Psi Chi National Honor Society in Psychology and a memmber of Golden Key National Honor Society. After graduation, I tutored a high school student in geometry. Lately, I have been tutoring a fifth-grade student in math and reading. I believe that applications to everyday life should be stressed if a tutor/teacher is to pique the interest of their student(s). Rather than stressing rote memorization, I believe it is more important to relate overall concepts in a "partnering" style. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin- Green Bay with a degree in Elementary Education. Starting in high school I have been working with children in one way or another. I was a mentor to elementary students while in high school, where I helped with their homework as well as their language skills. While in college I tutored at an area middle school in all subjects that the students needed help with. During my student teaching, I spent the summer in Thailand teaching. While I was there, I was able to expand my teaching experience and learn different teaching techniques. I believe that all students are capable of learning but it just takes finding the right teaching method and approach that works for them. All students learn differently, so naturally we can’t teach the same way to every student. All students are able to reach their potential if they are given the right tools.

I enjoy teaching and investing in children. I was credentialed as a Substitute Teacher. When I taught in public schools teachers would request me by name to teach for their classes. I have experience working with elementary ages through high school and even adults. When teaching I try to break complex materials and concepts down into practical illustrations and concepts so the student can see the big picture then fit the concept into that picture. I don't believe in just teaching raw data for kids to memorize, but instead try to illustrate concepts in ways that they can understand to enable them to best understand the material. I have two B.S. I have 24 years of teaching in the elementary grades. I taught in a one-room for seven years. I taught fifth grade for 11 years, and second grade for six years. My experience with all the elementary grade levels means I am able to craft a program to help your child with reading. My 316 WI Reading Teachers license allows me to diagnose your child's reading problems and create a program to advance their reading skills.
