I love to teach by arousing the thinking faculty of my students with questions that makes them think in the line of the subject. A Little Bit About Me...

I have always enjoyed teaching people in a one-on-one or small group environment. It allows me to tailor my teaching style to fit the individual student or group I’m working with. I enjoy using creative methods to teach a topic, including creating multiple ways to explain a term or concept and providing analogies to concepts that are familiar to the student. All people comprehend concepts in different ways and at varying speeds. Thus as I teach a concept I am constantly looking for signs of understanding, and then stop and reinforce a concept when it is apparent that the student does not understand. A Little Bit About Me...

I love teaching and working with all children. I firmly believe that all children learn differently. I currently am a Special Education Teacher at Canastota High School, where I teach a self contained class in the areas of 15:1 English 10, 15:1:1 English 11, and 15:1 Algebra II. My teaching style is a combination of techniques I found successful during my educational studies. First, I believe the teacher has to be passionate and have a true love for what he or she is doing; this is passion, or lack thereof, is evident when interacting with a student. Second, patience is of upmost importance. In my experience, nothing inhibits learning as much as a rushed or pressured feeling when one is trying to learn. Finally, it is critical to find a way for the student to relate to the material in a way they understand. Each person is different and the teaching style should reflect that; not everyone fits nicely into a cookie cut template of learning. Every person has the potential to learn anything as long as the opportunity is fairly presented – as a parent of a special needs child, this is something I know very well.
