Patient. Positive.Encouraging. Keeping it light. My primary aim would be to build the student's self confidence and image. Encouraging enthusiasm for the subject matter,by making it more receptive,would be an additional desired outcome. I would place special emphasize on promoting the need to read,write,and speak well, regardless of the subject. Teaching critical thinking would also be a goal. An instructor can't really teach a student. When I first started college, I had no idea what to major in. I started taking creative writing and literature classes though, and found my niche in English. I enjoy writing, reading, proofreading, checking grammar and punctuation, and find myself reviewing billboards and magazines for errors. I've been able to put these skills to actual use as an instructor, tutor, and advisor for college students. I have taught Business Writing, Business Communication, and Keyboarding classes. I have also had a great deal of experience with public speaking and have played piano for more than 20 years. In the end though, it's a great joy to see a student "get it" and to help them realize their full potential.
