Russian is one of my top subjects! I am a native speaker, but that doesn't make me a good teacher. What makes me a good teacher is that I have a background in linguistics and I speak four languages. I know what it takes to learn and teach a language. Simply speaking the language, doesn't mean you can teach the language. When working with individual students, I come up with a teaching method that would target the student's goals and needs. I adjust my method to student's style and preferences which makes the lessons more effective, and the student learns faster and retains the learned material better. In addition to strictly teaching the Russian language (pronunciation, grammar, semantics etc.), I can also help my students understand the culture and the communicational norms of the Russian speakers, which can be quite different from those of your own native culture.

I tailor my teaching style to the student's goals and needs. Every individual is different in learning style/strategies preferences, so I work together with the student to put together a customized syllabus with realistic and manageable goals for a set timeframe.
I am a native speaker of Russian. I was born and grew up in the former Soviet Union and I moved to the US in 2008. I have a bachelors degree in German and a masters degree in English with concentration in TESOL (Teaching English To Speakers of Other Langauages) from IUPUI (Indianapolis, Indiana). I have multiple years of tutoring experience of ESL (English as a second language), as well as tutoring Russian (one-on-one in person and online through Skype or Zoom).

My tutoring style is the same as my teaching style which I learned from teaching the eighth graders at Friends School of Atlanta. The young students were very honest about what they wanted. I learned to be very honest with them. These kids were very bright. I gave them a lot of homework and pushed them to learn as much as I knew they were capable of learning. They always grumbled whenever I upped the standards for the class, but they knew that they could count on me to help them.
