Sociology is one of my top subjects!

I think teaching styles should differ based on the preferred learning style of the student. The teaching style should play on the strengths and preferences of that particular student. That being said, I foster a student-centered approach to learning. This approach encourages the student play an equal, active role in the learning process, rather than a passive role. A cooperative approach is important so the student can feel like he or she is an active and capable participant in learning the material. I also believe in leading by example and allowing the student to use me as a resource for reviewing their work.

My comments on tutoring Sociology : So much of being expert in any field is having the ability to teach my students to use effective study skills and learning strategies. This I can do for you although I excelled at many sociology classes in undergraduate and graduate school.

Throughout my successful career as a teacher and school counselor, I've instructed every level from kindergarten to college level. Likewise I've had the privilege of working with various cultures, ages and achievement levels. Then, I think you need to understand the youth learning styles and to find out where they are with their knowledge and then begin from there. Certainly some refreshing maybe necessary, but most of the time the youth is behind so the teaching would focus on helping them reach their potential and moving forward.
