My teaching style varies depending on the age and needs of the student. When I worked with younger children, I often made up a game to help the children learn the material while having fun. Even with older children I tried to make learning interactive and suit their personality. I also varied the amount and type of aid given based on the student’s needs. While I do think learning should be suited to the individual, I do require that the student focus entirely on studying during the tutoring session. I truly enjoy teaching and learning, and I have high expectations for the student's progress.
I graduated summa cum laude from Berea College with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology. I haven taken many courses in biology and chemistry. A Little Bit About Me...

I feel each child is unique, so their learning style is unique. I especially enjoy using the explorative method of teaching where the child is encourage to explore, examine, and discover with my assistance. I believe that each child has a gift and it is my job to discover where their strengths lie and to foster that strength and know where their weaknesses are and kindle their desire to make those stronger. I believe that every child can learn and achieve, but at their own rate and you have to instill a desire and love of learning in them and make them know they are worthy and capable of achieving what their heart desires.

A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated with a BA in English Literature from Berea College. Berea is known for its rigorous academic program. I worked in the Public Relations Office as a News Writer, doing research and writing news releases for upcoming events. Post graduation, I’ve edited a book manuscript for the author, Normandi Ellis. I have also revised student’s application essays for graduate school. In addition, my Mom, who is a school teacher in Michigan, will sometimes email me grammar-related questions. I have been accepted into graduate school and will pursue further education so that I may teach at the college/graduate level.

I work best with pre-school, kindergarten, and first graders and have had lots of experience with Spanish speaking children. I consider myself a hands-on teacher. I believe that all children can excel in the right learning environment when given opportunity to experience and experiment with learning tools. I love using music to teach reading and math. Most children just need someone to be kind, patient and understanding.
