A Little Bit About Me...

I have over 13 years of tutor experience working with young and adult students. I have a BA in Criminal Justice this degree has helped me relate and better assist my students during our tutoring sessions. I enjoy reading and writing. In the past I have tutored students individually and in small groups of 3 to 4 to help them develop their basic reading, writing and study skills. I have also tutored young and adult students in preparation for exams like the PSAT SAT, ACT, GED, GRE and GMAT.

A Little Bit About Me...

What I have learned working with students is that many do not learn in the same manner. I beleive in what is called top process learning. Given the student a concept and allowing them to explore the possibilities of how one arrives at such a concept has allowed deeper critical thinking and strategic planning. However, this method is not predominately taught in Georgia education system. I have found this method to be very effective. The other method is patience. Students who strugge with their academic learning usually are having other areas of difficulty which may be social learning. Having clinical training allows me to make a more accurate assessment.

I have a Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Management and a minor in Psychology. I have had several years of experience working with the public. I enjoy working with children and helping them to succeed. I have the patience to help them achieve their goals. I have worked with adults helping them achieve their GED and placing them into training programs.
It is much easier to learn, if you know the instructor is working with you and for you. I think if the person is in a relaxed atmosphere and they know they are moving forward toward their goal, they will feel the rewards of their efforts. It is easier to learn when the instructor and the child are working for the same goals.
