I have a number of useful skills and abilities that I bring to a classroom. I have a very broad set of educational areas in which I am comfortable. I have a B.S. in Biology, a B.A. in History, and a minor in Political Science, as well as a Masters in teaching. I possess significant teaching experience, having taught American History, Earth Science, and General Science at the secondary level. Additionally, I have substituted in every grade from fifth through twelfth and in classes from art to P.E. math to music.
Students must be challenged, not coddled. Students at all levels need to be pushed to find their limits and then move beyond them. Only then can they achieve real growth. As a high school student I participated in peer tutoring. While in high school I volunteered to serve as a tutor in Algebra, Geometry, Chemistry, Zoology, and Biology. I graduated with 27 AP credits which helped me complete a B.S. at Clarke College in 3 years. At Clarke I found that tutoring my peers helped both the student and me. As a biology major at Clarke College I took many courses in science including biology, chemistry, and physics. Clarke is a liberal arts college so I took a variety of courses including English and History. At Clarke I tutored peers in many classes such as Human Biology, General Chemistry, and Elementary Physics. I also revised and edited papers along with providing topics and direction to written works.

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is entirely dependent on who I'm teaching. I try to prod and ask leading questions, while also looking for how it is I can relate the subject matter to the student. I consider it a failure of mine if I am ever forced to recommend a student memorizes something that they ought to understand on a deeper level. I consider it a great success and point of pride when I find a new way to explain a concept to someone who couldn't relate to it in the same way I do.
I have earned a BS and an MS in Aerospace Engineering. My most recent coursework was focused on Aerospace Propulsion systems- work which relies heavily on my background in Math, Physics, and Chemistry. I have always been a teacher at heart.
