Learning Can be Fun!

I like to allow the student to read the material once and clarity any areas that need more explanation. Then I will allow them to answer questions from the material read and help them where needed to choose the correct answer and understand the reason for the answers. I like to reward a certain level of correct answers with points that can be redeemed for interesting small prizes. I also consider myself very patient and interested in the student having a strong foundation for future learning.

I work with objectives outlined for each student based on their pre-test performance and measure their overall improvement on their post test performance. I use different techniques to instruct. One approach is to use visual objects to explain mathematical problems. i find using visual objects to work especially well with a problem like finding the surface area of a cylinder etc. I also let the students recite back to me what they have learned in each of our sessions and try to repeat certain topics that I believe they have not understood well.
