My comments on tutoring Piano : I don't have much experience teaching young children, but I love music and am willing to help any age.

Everyone absorbs knowledge differently so it is important to cater to each student's particular needs. I am a very hands-on learner and I feel that is the best way to be taught, especially outside of a classroom setting. By getting the body involved in the learning process, the mind is kept stimulated.
I have helped tutor since I was a freshman in high school. I began working with kindergarteners through third grade students on reading and writing. Throughout my sophomore year of high school I tutored middle school math students (ages 11-14) and helped to train our "Mathalon" team. My junior and senior years of high school I mostly helped biology students prepare for the regents exams, as well as continued in the after school reading program for kindergarteners and preschoolers. My comments on tutoring Piano : Lessons and tutoring available to beginning and intermediate level students. I have a B.Mus. in Piano from Houghton College and have strong experience with classical music and limited experience with other styles of keyboard playing.

I am enthusiastic about music - it is my favorite subject and I love both playing music and thinking about it. This translates into an upbeat teaching mood, with significant practical, hand-on approaches to music theory, and with interest in students' musical preferences and multiple strategies for approaching practice and learning pieces in piano lessons.

I have always wanted students to really know the material being covered. This has meant keeping their interest through jovial yet concentrated lesson planning. I have always strived to make my students feel comfortable and to take on the responsibility for their own learning. Much too often Educators show students how to answer questions rather than helping the student learn how to handle new scenarios. This is the essence of my teaching: helping students see the big picture so that they can handle any new scenario.
