I love learning math and science and I enjoy sharing the same love of learning with my students. I like seeing the look on their face when they really get it! Students requiring tutoring are sometimes in academic distress and have anxiety therefore I have a more easy going and patient style of tutoring than most. I believe I'm an effective tutor because I remember the exact same difficulties and questions I had as a student and can relate to their frustration. Most people as well as myself are visual learners thus I teach by working several examples and gradually increasing the difficulty at a pace set by the student. While earning my undergraduate degree from Boston College, I worked as a tutor and mentor at a local elementary school. There, I assisted with math, phonics, writing, and science coursework, as well as any other assignments given to the students. Additionally, I volunteered at a local union, where I taught English as a second language to adults in a one on one setting. I hold a B.S. in Environmental Geoscience, and possess a strong knowledge in the earth sciences and environmental issues.
