A Little Bit About Me...

In teaching, I believe it to be very important to gain the student's interest within the subject matter. With an interest comes greater understanding and retention. Providing a structure that can be worked through systematically can be very helpful in the learning process. Not all students are the same, so one-on-one interaction can help provide a teaching/learning style conducive to the individual involved. I hope to provide an adaptive and effective teaching experience for students in need with patience and dedication.
During my time as a student studying Biological Sciences, I encountered varying levels of math and science ranging from statistics to calculus and basic biology to various types of advanced physiology. My professional background is primarily in marine mammal behavioral biology. I have 10 years field experience studying whale and dolphin habitat use, foraging behavior, and human interaction occurances. I also have a strong background in terrestrial wildlife conservation and natural resource policy. I am a Phi Theta Kappa life member as well as a member of the Ecological Society of America (ESA). My two-year degrees gave me a strong background in both English and Humanity studies. It was during my early education at a community college where I discovered tutoring and joy of helping others find their potential.
