I retired from teaching after thirty one years in a variety of places. I began teaching English and drama in 1974 in Alleghany County, Virginia. After two years there, I moved to Sussex County, Virginia, where I taught for one year. I got married in 1977, and taught in Charleston, South Carolina where my husband was stationed while he was in the Navy. In 1979, I returned to Sussex and taught another year before finally coming home to Goochland, Virginia. I spent the remainder of my teaching career there. From 1980 through 1995, I taught English 9 and 10 and drama in the high school. In 1995, I moved to the middle school, where I taught 6th grade drama and English 7, 8, and gifted English 7 until I retired in 2006.

I tutored beginning through Intermediate accounting, Principles of Marketing and other business subjects from 2000-2003. I was a formal tutor for one year and a student tutor for 2 years. I currently tutor family members, friends and church members in all basic elementary through college subjects. (ex. Algebra, Physics, Chemistry, Accounting, Statistics,English etc. ) Basically, if you have a book or instructions we can get a passing grade out of the class. Education has always been one of my greatest facinations. I achieved a BA in English grammars, a MLA in creative writing, and fifteen credits towards a PhD in literature and literary criticism. I discovered the writing center at my undergraduate university and became a tutor immediately. I found that I was in a position to learn just as much at the students I tutored. I love working with children of all ages. I can say I am patient enough to deal with elementary students being that I've done so before. Children's church is where a year of my experience comes from.
