I teach lessons tailored to the individual student's needs. I use a variety of books and my own supplemental materials, and also include listening in lessons. In every lesson I focus on warm ups, technique, sight reading, and performance repertoire. I am very open to having the student bring in songs they want to learn or work on specific things they are interested in. Lauren Wasynczuk - Saxophonist, Conductor & Music Educator

I've been studying saxophone for 14 years. Since high school, I've been an active music educator and have taught students of all ages and backgrounds. My quartet that I've been involved with since the Fall of 2012, La'Ventus, has performed throughout the United States and Italy. A Little Bit About Me...

My first student teaching experience was in a preschool. The classroom was very play based and not very structured. I learned how to communicate with the students while they were playing and was able to help them learn through scaffolding I learned how to model positive behaviors to the children and stay away from the negative. I student taught in a preschool classroom. This classroom was inclusive and included many different kinds of learners. There were ten gifted children, two children with autism, one child with epilepsy, and the rest who were at benchmark. This was a great experience because I was placed with such an incredible seasoned mentor teacher. She taught me that being calm kept the children calm. A Little Bit About Me...

I evaluate the student and see where he/she stands and move forward in progressing their skill. Every instrument is different and difficult in its own way. I will teach the student the most productive way to practice by using the technique I learned by professors and professional musicians. For trumpet, I work on the embochure, and breathing. For violin, I evaluate the way the student holds the instrument including posture. I use a special tape to help guide with the notes which I use as training wheels, and take them down one at a time as the student progresses. The student learns at his/her pace and will vary by the amount of practice he/she puts into it.
