I teach lessons tailored to the individual student's needs. I use a variety of books and my own supplemental materials, and also include listening in lessons. In every lesson I focus on warm ups, technique, sight reading, and performance repertoire. I am very open to having the student bring in songs they want to learn or work on specific things they are interested in. I always try to make the lessons as fun and enjoyable as possible, as well as educational. I evaluate the student and see where he/she stands and move forward in progressing their skill. Every instrument is different and difficult in its own way. I will teach the student the most productive way to practice by using the technique I learned by professors and professional musicians. For trumpet, I work on the embochure, and breathing. For violin, I evaluate the way the student holds the instrument including posture. I use a special tape to help guide with the notes which I use as training wheels, and take them down one at a time as the student progresses.
