Every child has a window of time when learning to write and read is at its peak. I’ve observed this can begin as early as three or four years of age. Yet the child who discovers his/her fascination with language at the age of eight is no less gifted. So I believe patiently leading children through auditory, kinesthetic and auditory learning channels will grant them opportunities to learn rapidly. Methods like Nellie Edge’s “Early Literacy” or the “Right to Read” program offer them these chances at appropriate ages in the classroom. A Little Bit About Me...

I benefited from the liberal arts education I received from the University of Puget Sound, which offered a diverse selection of classes and an exploratory environment in which to pursue my studies. For two years, I studied Chemistry and Biology while also taking classes in the Humanities. I eventually majored in International Political Economy and obtained minors in Spanish and Latin American Studies. During my undergraduate years, I studied in Oaxaca, Mexico and received a grant for summer research. Upon graduation I spent a year doing anthropology research in Peru on a Fulbright grant, while also becoming fluent in Spanish and learning a third language, Quechua.
