Throughout my grade school experience I never obtained anything below a 3.0 GPA. As a college student I have acquired a 4.0 GPA and feel confident I can assist with any educational needs. I am a NBCT with 38 years experience teaching in the Bay District School System. I hold bachelors degree in Elementary Education and a masters in Reading. My Florida teaching certificate is in Elementary Education 1-6 and Reading k-12. I have tutored with SES program in Bay County for the past three years in both reading and math for elementary age students.
I believe that all children have the ability to learn. After 38 years in the teaching profession I find each year to be just as exciting as the last one. In general however I tend to back up and work on the material that the student already is familiar and comfortable with. Once some review on the known material has been done I like to begin moving toward the material that is currently being reviewed. As a student of psychology, I have always been interested in using my knowledge to help others improve themselves. Often the kids in my class are those who do not like to be challenged, so I incorporate a lot of questions to provoke thinking and problem solving on their own. Since repetition is a key component to learning, I review a lot which requires patience but pays great dividends in the long run.
