Drawing is one of my top subjects! All students at SCAD are required to take a number of drawing courses, each taught by some of the best teachers in the country. Even at the level I was before arriving at SCAD, I've seen vast improvement in my skills, improvement I hope to pass on and encourage a more creative world.

Like those who taught me, my teaching style isn't harsh or cushy, just realistic. I will happily tell you where you've improved, but I will also point out where there can still be improvement. Individual lessons will be once-twice weekly, and are typically ~2 hours. During which time we will discuss a level of theory, discuss our current practice project, and move on to practicing the techniques we learned. These practice projects are not intended to be completed during these lessons. For the sake of cost-effectiveness, you are encouraged to continue working on your own, and email me with any questions you may have. I can tailor my lessons to my client's goals, be that industry work or illustrations for writing.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have spent my life working towards degrees that would help me to give my life meaning. I have earned a B.S. and M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology, as well as, a bilingual extension in Spanish. Since I also love healing through nutrition and energy work, I've earned degrees in Health Counseling and Reconnective Healing. As I continue to learn myself, I hope to inspire people to do the same!
I have been working with children ever since I can remember. I love to engage in creative activities with children while helping them utilize their strengths to overcome their limitations. I've learned that by figuring out what motivates a child, s/he can learn anything! I also know that if a child is having fun, it means that s/he is learning something. My teaching style is fun, unique, focused, hands-on and engaging.

More About This Tutor...

My goal in life is to be a successful teacher to many students. I have already began this exciting journey by volunteering in classrooms starting at the age of fourteen; now I am teaching. My teaching philosophy includes all students; all students can learn. It is the teacher's job to find out what teaching strategy will work best with each student. All students can strive, however, some students may learn material in a different method. Students need to be in a positive, conducive learning environment that best suits them so that ative learning will take place. Students need to have experiences throughout their learning career, it is my job as a teacher to provide this for students. Part of my philosophy as a teacher, is that students need to respect the teacher, yet teachers also need to respect their students so that a positive, enriching learning environment can occur. I have tutored students in English, Organic Chemistry (I),Microbiology (Lec and Lab), and other areas pertaining to the sciences.
I am a firm believer in everyone having their own learning style. I had to figure this myself doing assessments of students during the years of tutoring, as well as being a student. I believe I am able to assess the need of the child, figure out their learning style, and apply it to them in a way that will have an effective outcome for the student for the present, as well as the future. More About This Tutor...

I love to work with children of any age. I have been volunteering for over 15 years helping wherever and whenever I can to help make the lives of children more enriched. I have two boys of my own (age 10 and 14) and have been successful in helping them achieve the best they can. I have been teaching kids as a substitute for many years and went back to school in my middle 30's to become a teacher. Unfortunately the availability of teaching positions in my area has prevented me from full time employment but I've kept myself busy subbing and working with young adults and those with disabilities further their educational needs.

More About This Tutor...

I love teaching children about our visual culture, and learning how to see and create with their minds eye. I feel each child has their own voice, and I love being able to be of service to help them direct, develop and grow through their artwork. I find teaching a solid foundation of the basics in visual art is important in the early years so that as the child or children get older and start to develop and express their unique point of view, their foundation can grow by teaching them more advanced techniques that can give them more possibilities to express themselves in. The biggest gift I can give is my inspiration for success.
Through my educational experiences, in college and teaching, I have developed my knowledge and skills in teaching to a diverse population. Such experiences include substitute teaching in a variety of different school districts, and teaching and developing a ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

Education stands atop my own list of the most important plights of mankind. I believe people are at their highest capacity for learning when they are children, and that such open minds should be given the resources to grow and educate themselves. I am very patient and persistent in my methods. I think teaching is an art of framing the student's mind so that they find themselves more engaged in the world through expression and description of it from the human language perspective (whether numerical or verbal). I get along well with kids and as long as the student I am working with has an attitude of openness, I am sure that it will be a successful, possibly even fun, experience.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a UB graduate, I was very driven to learn the most I could in the areas of humanities and social sciences. I have earned two bachelor degrees, BA in History and BA in Political Science. With history, I wrote many essays that required me to decipher large amounts of kryptic writing aging back from thousands of millenia ago to present day. In Political Science I have learned how to collect data, use deductive logic, and apply statistics in any situation on will. During the last year I have taught special education students at various schools at all grade level from k-12. Reading and writing were the main focus areas of all of my teaching.
I love trying to help children gain knowledge. I believe anyone is capable of learning something new no matter how old they are and that patience and the use of deductive knowledge are they key's to having someone develop their knowledge. My meth ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I love teaching and helping children learn. My philosophy is that you have to make this information that your children are learning relatable to what they are going through. If you do this children will enjoy learning. I feel that it is also to make sure that you are helping children learn in a fun, yet productive environment.
I have a great deal of customer service experience working for both M&T Bank and Key Bank. I excelled in Reading and English subjects throughout school, reading multiple grade levels ahead of myself.
