I tend to work well with individuals and small groups, independent of their age - I have worked with everyone from elementary school and below up to adult learners on a factory floor. My main goal is to teach by finding out what the pupil already knows and relating the subject matter to them through the already established knowledge base. Combining this this direct experience with analogy tends to bring what sometimes starts as an incomprehensible subject into the realm of what they already know and have a feel for, making them more comfortable with the subject and better able to grasp the concepts.

I am a teacher with ten years experience and a passion for teaching. I have acquired both a master's and bachelor's degree from Buffalo State College in addition to studying abroad in England. I have been a teacher in the Gowanda school system for 9 years and have taught AP US History for 8 of those years. In addition, I have taught remedial programs at Erie Community College and have offered after school review sessions months prior to the AP US History exam.
My teaching methods are based on years of research. I am firm believer in using formative assessment and incorporating technology whenever possible. I found a lot of satisfaction in tutoring in college and felt that I was an effective teacher. My students did well in courses that they had been struggling to pass. I use a step-by-step approach starting with what the student knows and connect to everyday life experiences. This approach works particularly well in subjects like physics or chemistry. While a good test score is the goal, I may teach fundamentals so the student understands the subject. This facilitates learning and memorization.
I graduated cum laude from D'Youville College with a BS degree in biology and a minor in chemistry. At D’Youville in 2001-2003 I tutored advanced sciences.
