To develop responsible learners who will succeed in and contribute to a changing world is vital! Because of this, a student-centered education is important. A constructivism approach to learning is very important to me as opposed to the behavioralist approach that has dominated education. I strive to actively engage students in their own education. I have been teaching in many aspects over the last decade. After receiving my BA from Wheelock College, I have been a teacher in many areas. I have taught Oppositional Defiant 11-13 year olds, 1st grade in California, a third grade Structured English Immersion class in Phoenix, been a Newspaper in Education Coordinator, kindergarten, then first grade, and then fifth grade in California, and now .I have been working as a long-term substitute teacher as well as a daily substitute. A Little Bit About Me...

I began my teaching career as a piano teacher in 1994, taught a pre-piano bells class & obtained licensure in Kindermusik in 1996. I obtained a BM in Piano Pedagogy in 1997. I then went out east to nanny for identical twins with Down Syndrome for a year which gave me experience with children not only academically but on a day to day basis as well as rooted me well in understanding children with special needs. I then completed a BS degree in Elementary Education & was a substitute for the school district for over 7 years. I have also been teaching piano lessons privately for 7 years now. I am currently teaching preschool as well. I enjoy all grade levels & intellects as I strive to be the best teacher I can in a variety of ways.
