I believe every student has their own learning style. As a teacher, I believe it is my responsibility to find the style that works best for the student to help ensure the student not only learns the material but is also able to retain the information. I have more than 5 years experience as a substitute teacher at almost every level. I have had the opportunity to also serve as a long term substitute teacher. Having grown up with a family of educators, there was never any doubt I would become a teacher. I hold a MS degree in Educational Administration and a BS degree in English and have taught 26 years of high school, primarily seniors. In addition to classroom teaching, I have taught numerous ACT prep classes evenings and was a tutor for Sylvan Learning Center. At the present, I currently teach a writing and a literature class at University Center in Sioux Falls. In addition, I have been tutoring several high school students in writing and English.

I have worked with children of all ages and enjoy helping them learn. I realize that everyone does not learn at the same speed and am very patient and understanding. I believe that all children have the right to a quality education and over the years have spent as much time as I could helping any child that needed that extra one-on-one. Each child has their own unique personality and a teacher's approach needs to be fit to that student's needs. Learning is fun and all children deserve the chance to learn.
