I actually believe that having the ability to teach is a gift, and that Learning occurs from a variety of experiences and explorations. I generally use a teacher-centered approach to teaching; however, there are other times that I prefer to use a learner-centered approach as to meet the needs of my students and their learning styles. A Little Bit About Me...

I have always had a passion for working with and teaching children. I tend to have a facilitator teaching style by focusing on student-centered learning and activities. I am aware of all different learning styles and gladly accommodate them when working with different children. A Little Bit About Me...

Because I am a very patient and detail oriented person, I feel it is best to adapt my teaching style to the student's learning style. I would first make that evaluation to determine how best to approach teaching the student. I enjoy using hands-on examples and Powerpoint presentations in teaching. I feel that one-on-one interaction will always help a child gain knowledge of a subject.
I have a BS in Environmental Science with a Chemistry minor. I also have a MS in Environmental/Soil Science. As a NASA scholar and Research Assistant, I taught undergraduate students Soil Science Lab Classes. I have tutored Elementary level reading and writing as a volunteer. I have also tutored Middle School level Math to several students. I am a substitute teacher in Louisiana and I am currently working on my teacher certification.
