I was homeschooled for the majority of my education which enabled me to assit my younger brothers and sisters in their studies. I taught a few Science classes including botony and a study of birds and have tutored in highschool math as well. I played volleyball, took 3 years of piano, and was a member of Chior as well. I love teaching in a hands on style in which the student not only has an algorithm of how to solve a specific problem, but has a thorough understanding of the concepts behind the algorithm. I enjoy having analogies or hands-on activities to demonstrate the concepts. I believe that many times people understand the basic concepts from physics in their daily life, but are frightened by equations. With this in mind, my teaching style usually walks a student through a concept thoroughly, utilizing problems to guide understanding. A Little Bit About Me...

Throughout college, I consistently worked as a tutor or mentor, specifically with minority populations. Upon graduation, I joined Teach for America and taught high school English in rural North Carolina. Since my tenure in TFA, I have taught English to students in Mexico, substitue taught for 2 years at a Waldorf school in La Crosse, WI, and currently tutor and mentor students as I attend graduate school at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Cumulatively, including extended substitute teaching situations, I have taught all grade levels 1-12 in various subjects. I would describe my teaching style as ecclectic.
