I come from a family with a rich history in teaching. I have several cousins, aunts and great aunts who work and have worked as teachers in the State of California. Like them, it is my dream and goal to make a positive difference in the lives of the students I teach and tutor. Certain theorists have helped me gain a broad understanding of the learning experience, which has helped me develop my teaching style. I reached University level in Mexico before moving to the United States. Also, I got my AA degree from Merced Community College and transfered to CSU Fresno where I got my BA degree, both in Spanish major. I have taken Beginning Algebra, Intermediate and College Algebra among many other Math related classes such as Arithmetic, Geometry, and Calculus. I went to UC Merced with the goal of pursuing an undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences, in order to prepare me for admission to a PharmD program. From my studies at UC Merced, I earned a 3.78 GPA, and gained admission to multiple PharmD programs in California. While my formal tutoring experience is limited, I have had various experience tutoring friends and leading study groups in subjects such as Biology, Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and English.
I am a very empathetic teacher who gears my teaching based on the learner's needs. Each learner has a unique style of learning, and it is important for me as a tutor to cater to the learner's strengths. For example, if a learner is visual, I will use diagrams and flow charts to help teach the information.
