As an adjunct faculty instructor at the University of North Alabama, I teach students in a public speaking course through a series of class lectures, individual and group activities, live performances, examinations, and out of class assignments. I work on skills such as audience and situational analysis, research, organization, delivery, body language, and listening. After high school I achieved a BS from George Peabody College for teacher, however did not teach for money until many years later after I received my MS. My work in clinical psychology has been mostly with children, the severely mentally ill, and abuse cases. My last full time position was teaching high school material in a one room school to students who were wards of the state. I taught anger management for the local courts for eight years. Now I teach parenting classes for divorcing couples for the Giles County court. I also occasionally teach a seminar for attorneys on body language.

Teaching is my passion. Students need to be challenged, engaged, and eager to learn which is fueled by the enthusiasm of the teacher. My twelve years of teaching experience includes: -typical classroom jobs at public and private schools in Alabama and Tennessee, -substituting in elementary schools in Oklahoma, -kindergarten aide stints, -and tutoring freshmen guys in college! I have instructed students from ages 5 (younger, counting my own children) to 18. Although I graduated from college “way back” in 1983, I have officially taught as recently as 2007.
