I provide multiple kinds of instruction while keeping a patient and easy going mentality. It is my goal to help each student not only come to understand the subject, but be able to apply it in real life settings. This type of teaching can make a difference in each of my students' lives.
As a University of Connecticut graduate, I was very driven by my passion for the sciences. I earned a BS in pathobiology with a minor in molecular and cell biology. I was a well rounded student which has afforded me skills in math, psychology, and English. My goal is to help your child achieve success. I explain real-life applications of the subject (i.e., metric system--repair of foreign cars.) I encourage questions and dialogue. I use praise when warranted but am firm on deadlines and honesty. Aware of attention span, I take appropriate breaks or switch to another subject. I remind him to read and follow directions and to check his work over before he hands it in. I believe that in this fast-paced technical age your child needs the best chance possible to compete successfully. I began my tutoring experience in the fall of 2009 with a program called Breakthrough Manchester. It serves underprivileged students in the area who do not have the resources to succeed. They ranged from grade 5 to 8. With Breakthrough I worked one-on-one with students as well as in a classroom setting in which I conducted my own lessons. I helped students with a variety of subjects such as science, math, social studies, geography, and even organizational skills. I worked with children from all walks of life, including kids with disabilities. During my time at Breakthrough I also spent two days a week tutoring mentally disabled adults.
