I am a recent graduate of the University of Hartford. I have a dual certification in Special Education and Elementary Education. I have taught in both Urban and Suburban areas in grades K, 1, 2,5,6, and 7. I have also tutored children in grade 4 and peers at the college level. I have tutored all elementary subjects and at the college level I have tutored in English and World History.
I have wanted to be a teacher since I was in elementary school and now that I have graduated I am excited to finally live out my childhood dreams. I am very enthusiastic, patient, and creative. I feel as though all children can learn, it's just a matter of figuring out what learning style best suits them. I truly believe in the use of positive reinforcement whenever possible.

I was more of an instructor than a teacher. I was a day camp counselor at Solway House parent/child resort in Saugerties N.Y. I instructed kids how to swim, dive, play various sports and gave dancing lessons to the guests. As a high school student I tutored 7th and 8th graders in an after school community center. I was one of a few staff at the University of Connecticut to instruct graduates and staff in the use of the various electronic facilites available to them.
I feel children are very self-aware and are very vulnerable to positive and negative feedback. Therefore, no matter how little progress is made, praise them. If no progerss is made or if an issue needs to re-addressed, praise them..."That was great, but let's try it this way!" I have had a successful career as a medical scientist in hospital, government, and reference laboratories in the northeast and southern U.S., holding bench, supervisory, and leadership positions. I have two college degrees with published articles, and two national certifications, all in the sciences. For the past eight years I have been a substitute teacher and tutor in thirteen urban, suburban, and rural public school systems in Connecticut.
