I attended Sarah Lawrence College, where I studied English and Spanish literature, Ancient Greek, history and philosophy. I graduated with an MFA in English from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop in May of 2008, and I am currently the Provost’s Post-Graduate Writing Fellow in fiction at the University of Iowa. I have three years of experience teaching college students in English and creative writing. I have also occasionally tutored students at the University of Iowa in Ancient Greek.

I have had a passion for reading all of my life. I pursued a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Wisconsin, which I received in 1973. I have taught children of all ages and disabilities in all academic areas. I prefer working with younger students. I have been published in a national education journal, "The Clearinghouse." I had an assistantship to an ecucation professor at the University of Iowa, where I received my master's degree in special education. I have woeked in small-group and one-to-one settings. I am a kinesthetic learner, so I enjoy teaching in a very approachable, hands on kind of way. I realize every student is not that kind of learner, however, yet I try to make learning the subject at hand enjoyable and something that will be remembered not just for a test, but for life, in the student. I have over 200 hours of classroom observation and teaching time. I have been an afterschool supervisor/leader at an inner city elementary school.
