I have always enjoyed teaching at any level. One of my strengths is to recognize the personality of the student and contour my style to that particular personality. In a class room setting, I would focus on a student that I feel is shy and afraid to speak. I would gently get them involved with simple questions to build their confidence so that others in the same realm would understand and overcome the fear associated with participation and become involved with the existing interaction.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a member of a musical family, I grew up w/ a profound passion for creating & understanding music. My first instrument of choice was playing the drums, I started playing when I was 12 years old. Taking lessons from the famed Wilco drummer, Glen Kotche & getting involved with the school Jazz program were highlights from my high school days. I went on to attend the University of Tennessee graduating in 2001 with a bachelor of science degree, majoring in Horticulture Science with a minor in Business. Though I did not scholastically pursue a music degree, I continued playing & taking music lessons in college. During this time, I found my ‘voice’ on the guitar & it has been my primary instrument ever since.

A Little Bit About Me...

I believe that teaching is most effective when you give students a chance to show you what they already know. Half of teaching is simply encouraging children to be interested in their own progress and to persevere through the adversity that always follows real learning. I gage the progress of my students by asking them a lot of questions, and I give positive reinforcement whenever possible. I want to be a positive role model for every child I come across, and to participate in the process of discovery with them in a personal way. Most rewarding is the way that my students have taught me more things than I would have ever expected. I love to see my students' progress as they find their own paths, and to celebrate each students' uniqueness.
