A Little Bit About Me...

I have a very strong background in writing. My experience includes my graduate research and thesis, news writing for a tv station, in addition to 6 years of writing for academia. I spent a semester in Pau, France and can tutor beginning to intermediate level students. I graduated with a 3.9 GPA in high school, college and graduate school.
I don't believe in giving a student the answers to their questions. Rather, I think it is important to help them find the answers themselves--understanding the process will enable them to perform on their own. For example, rather than editing a student's paper, I will go through it line by line and have them help me find the errors.

During my graduate program at SIU, I become a teaching assistant and fell in love with teaching. I taught undergraduate laboratory in microbiology and bacteriology to undergraduate students. Everyone has something to add, especially in the classroom, and should not be overlooked. Linda Albert's model of "Cooperative Discipline" first began to intrigue me when I was introduced to her model in on of my Education courses. I agree whole-heartedly in her approach, which is based around the idea that helping students feel capable and connected will encourage them to contribute to their class and be successful.
